"In Time of Silver Rain" - Langston Hughes
In time of silver rain , she said to herself as she walked through the storming weather. The earth puts forth new life again. She avoided a large puddle and moved towards the side of the dirt path. Green grasses grow, and flowers lift their heads. Was it an irony that all the grass and flowers had been destroyed by the rain that pounded down from the heavens now? And all over the plain the wonder spreads. The only “wonder” she had was whether or not she would be able to get through the storm and back home. Of life, of life, of life! But there was no sign of life – no trees, no animals, not even the occasional boy or girl walking home from school on a Tuesday afternoon.
A little bit of a short story I had to write for creative writing class here at university. Not finished with it, so I'm not too comfortable putting the rest of it up. That's just the intro. The rain here in Vancouver reminds me of this poem a lot - one I had to memorize by heart in the 6th grade.
I'm not sure what this blog is going to be. I'm not sure what I'm going to upload on to it, what I'm going to "post" here daily, weekly, monthly... however often I decide to update it. For now, here's a piece of written art that I have yet to finish. I really need to paint soon or I may implode. Time to get back to studying!
