a moment or two

Lately I've been posting a lot of random stuff up on my blog, and haven't really done anything art or fashion related - so today I'm posting up a series of fashion photos done by Jamie Beck. These photos are slightly animated, making them not only beautiful but incredibly fascinating as well.

Aren't they lovely? I wish I knew how to do this...

Annie are you okay?

I love classical instruments. It's true - the piano is probably my favorite (being Asian and therefore forced to take lessons since I was a youngling, I'm perhaps a little biased). So when a creative musician takes a modern song and gives it the honor of being played on a classical instrument, it makes me rather giddy. A friend sent me this link on facebook the other day, and although it wasn't the first time I saw this particular youtube video, it reminded me just how much I loved it the first time I saw it (maybe about a year or so ago). I mean, how could you not love Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" preformed with two cellos? After all, my favorite MJ tunes are "Smooth Criminal" and "The Way You Make Me Feel" (if anyone ever creates a piece similar to this one on "The Way You Make Me Feel", you will be my musical Jesus). Anyway, here's the song. Enjoy!

ps. For the Supernatural fans out there, doesn't one of the musicians look like Dean?!?!

Womanly issues...

Personally, I shave everyday... so I guess my legs are pretty damned special.

Brilliance.

One of my favorite poems of all time is by Lewis Carrol - yup, the guy who wrote "Alice in Wonderland" whilst on crack (to be more precise, it was a type of hallucinogen).

I often wondered when I cursed,
Often feared where I would be --
Wondered where she'd yield her love,
When I yield, so will she.
I would her will be pitied!
Cursed be love! She pitied me...

So maybe you're wondering, well, what's so special about this poem? It's just about love and some girl... typical. However, this masterpiece here reads exactly the same horizontally and vertically. How brilliant is that? I love English♥

bedtime stories

Samuel L. Jackson reading "Go The Fuck To Sleep" - a new children's book. I kid you not. Listen and laugh :)

It is now time for me to go the fuck to sleep. Sweet dreams!

halfsies represent!

I'm not a fan of J-pop. But I am a fan of Japanese television. Other than religiously watching Vs. 嵐 and 秘密のあらしちゃん like a manic Jonny's Entertainment fan (which I am not, by the way), I like to keep up with current shows. Partly to improve my Japanese and partly because it's just so god damn funny. One "talent" or television personality that I've liked to follow is ベッキー♡ (Becky, or rather Rebecca, as that is her full name). She's a halfsie, like me, although British instead of American. I remember thinking I didn't belong anywhere, but when I noticed how well she blended in with the Japanese culture, and how much they loved her, I gained some new confidence. So this post is dedicated to her, mainly because she's awesome and party because I have nothing else to blog about but am waiting for the rest of "Something Borrowed" to load and am extremely bored.

ps. It's a Hello Kitty themed love hotel. I know, I know. Japan is full of surprises.何か以外と可愛いし。

for shits & giggles

Boyfriend just sent this to me:

hahaha I love him :) ♡

oh so sweet

"I love you more than a pretty girl loves French macaroons."

Macaroons are more than a Parisian delicacy dessert - they're a fashion statement. It's true, especially in Japan. Keychains, notepads, pencils... loads of different things are adorned or in the design of macaroons here in Tokyo. For example, I have a macaroon keychain on my Japanese cellphone that conveniently opens up with a zipper in the middle, basically splitting the macaroon open and allowing me to hide goodies inside (usually my pills, nbd). And I also recently purchased a letter set decorated with pretty, pastel colored macaroons, which I'm using right now to send letters to my roommates in Canada. I've had macaroons before and, I must say, they are delicious. I love them. They're cute and tasty - what's a girl not to like about them?

Apparently macaroons are rather difficult to make, but I came across a book that teaches you step-by-step just how to make them at home! I want this book. I'd love to make those cute heart shaped macaroons for my special someone♡

Note: the book is written by Hisako Ogita, a Japanese woman, further proving my point that Japanese girls are obsessed with them. Also, macaroons is spelled incorrectly. Ah Japlish. How you never seize to make me laugh hysterically.

herro♡

Just here to say I'm in love. Oh, and that I watched Gareth Emery live last night here in the heart of Tokyo. Jealous? I know you are. It blew me away.

My boyfriend and I on the bus heading to Ageha. Yeah, he's the man I'm in love with, by the way. ;) And just in case you live in medieval times and are not up to date with current music, here is a song by Gareth Emery. Enjoy!

love in a cigarette

Love
n. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.

Now that I've got the definition of love out of the way, I can move on to the pictures I found online of beautiful people smoking. I admit it's a terrible habit, but at least it's got some glamour.

My kind of art

Gabriel Monero works with pen and ink and watercolor, my favorites ♡ This is the kind of art that I wanted to do in art school. I regret not going to Emily Carr sometimes :(

Drowning...

As you can see I've been very productive today, looking at fashion photography. Here is an exquisite set of underwater photographs by fashion photographer Hana Al Sayed.
I was looking for "underwater wallpaper" on google for my macbook because I've gotten tired of the one I have now, and I came across these. Gotta love the internet. Or not. Since I really should be doing chores right now.

The beauty of black and white.

ps. this is the background I decided on for my macbook. Lovely, isn't it?
